Description
This violin labelled “Angelus Toppani Roma fecit anno 1740”. This violin appears to be a very old and likely German made instrument with the neck and scroll made later. This violin has a full arch, scribed purfling, and features a poplar back. The spruce top is well repaired and in a healthy state with f-holes that have a lot of character. This violin does have a nice mature sound that projects very well, especially for something with type of arching. It’s sound is full yet has good clarity. This was one of the favorite violins a local collector who recently passed and is seeking a new player who wants an instrument with a very mature sound.
