This 5×14 Hybrid Exotic Kapur/Fiberglass Snare Drum from Pearl has a two-part shell that is comprised of six plies of Kapur wood, and an inner ply of fiberglass. Kapur is pretty unusual as far as snare drum material goes. It pushes lower end frequencies, not unlike mahogany. The fiberglass inner ply is very dense and adds extra projection to the shell composition. The resulting sound is unique, a pleasant blend of organic and composite tone that cuts.
