- The name “Local 627” is an homage to the musicians’ union in Kansas City (Local 627) which had a rich jazz history, including artists such as Charlie Parker
- The Local 627 Jazz cut hasa larger area of scrape (i.e., more cane is removed/filed) which gives the reed a more flexible feel and quicker response as compared to the “Regular Cut” by Gonzalez
- Made with cane from Gonzalez’s own plantation and aged for at least 3 years before manufacturing
