This clever device is useful but also kinda fun. Most people use this when moving their foot to their double bass pedal. Of course, I like “dropping” this just so students don’t knock the cynmbals together when getting settled into their drums.
- Hit the clutch with a drumstick and the top cymbal disengages and drops
- Step on the pedal and the clutch attaches itself at its original position
- The Gibraltar hi-hat Clutch functions like a snare drum throwoff
- Disengage and drop the top cymbal by hitting the clutch with a drumstick
