A good silver mounted German viola bow by Emile Werner (1906 – 1973)from the collection of a New York Philharmonic retiree; featuring fine craftsmanship and selection of materials, with a strong stick of consistent flexibility through the entirety of its length, clean articulations, and easy response to changes of pressure and speed. Not yet appreciating like French bows of the same era, German bows of this variety represent an excellent value in today’s market and a sound investment in yourself, if you’ll forgive the pun.
