Vintage 1973 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe in Cherry Sunburst with original mini-humbuckers! Featuring a pancake body made of featherweight mahogany, maple and mahogany once again! Weighing just 4.17kg; this is the lightest Les Paul Deluxe from the early ’70s we’ve seen.
Also featuring the highly coveted 1 11/6″ nut width as opposed to the later 60s and 70s narrow nut width. Only a few 60s and 70s Gibsons that have come through have had this feature – most have the much less desirable ‘toothpick-necks’.
This one has a gorgeously worn in neck, equating to a well loved modern C profile.

Includes original case (painted Gibson logo looms large on face) & some original hardware and replacement hardware in case too.
Serialised as 1972 however pots indicate 1973; Loaded with original 1960s Sprague Black Beauty caps too.
Lower bout strap pin has been replaced at some stage with an ornate flat-head screwed type and art-deco black pickguard which has been nailed in (much like the ‘Custom Made’ plates Gibson used in the 1950s when applying Bigsby tailpieces to stop-tail models) as has two tuning keys (tuners themselves are original however its very common for the heads on these snap off or crack). Tailpiece, bridge pins, jack plate, nut & knobs have been replaced at some stage too.
Appears to have had a minor neck reset however no headstock break (thanks to it’s period-correct volute!) and a possible refret in the past however very hard to tell. An excellent player with a great sound – somewhere in-between a standard LP & Telecaster.
Freshly restrung with D’Addario EXL110 10-46’s with a very comfortable low action.
