Description

Though some might scoff at the mechanical geared pegs, they are rarely seen in such good working order, and certainly complete this 130 year old cello’s aesthetic. The varnish is typical of higher end Saxon commercial work, circa 1890, antiquated after the Caussin family and workshop instruments fromNeufchâteau, Northeastern France; this too was about the time that Jerome Thibouville Lamy began offering a line of similarly varnished instruments, those often referred to as “school of” as opposed to the true workshop productions. This instrument boasts a warm, inviting voice; malleable and easy to control through the gamut of articulations, yet still delivers both bite and brilliance in abundance.

Back length: 760mm
